Unfortunately, Chinese Mystery Snails have been found in several locations in Tacoma Lakes. These snails are not native to Maine lakes. Originally imported into the United States as a food source, they have established themselves in fresh water bodies across the United States, including Maine. The extent of their impact on the eco system is not well known, and there is no known control method.
